Warminster to Weston-super-Mare, via RSPB Ham Wall. Ride details Taken from Ride with GPS - 101km and 900m elevation gain (950m according to Garmin!). Ride with GPS route details are Warminster to RSPB Ham Wall And   Ham Wall to Weston-super-Mare  . The Mendips appear as the dark green area north of Axbridge. My early-evening heart sank as I approached Axbridge from the south as I assumed the only way was over the imposing ridge line that lay straight ahead! I really didn't care that the route round was lumpy! The morning Was spent getting my bike and me back at full power. To fix my bike I found a great bike shop with an identity crisis - Car Mart. They made this replacement arm to secure my front wheel basket to the steering column. I also asked them to sort the rear derailleur indexing because, as the first day wore on, I had increasingly to go down two and up one to change down one gear. From minster to minster. I'm still working out how Google blogger works, so let's see how this goes... I left Exminster from outside the village pub in darkness at 0540 and arrived in Warminster in darkness at 2100. Garmin ride details 108 miles and 2800 m elevation gain! So this is the longest day of the 10, and also the one with the most elevation gain. Last time I did 100+ miles in the day was 1992 - so more than a third of a century ago! A slight bike malfunction  Here's   how my bike was loaded up when I set off. And below   is how it looked after 20 miles - just as I reached Otterton. The bracket holding the basket had snapped. I'm just glad I was going slowly because the basket landed on the wheel and led to an unscheduled emergency stop.  Some views along the way Budleigh Salterton at 735am. Weston-super-Mare to Lynton Trip Details Yesterday: 120km with 1420m ascent Overall: 393km with 5170m ascent. And the Strava details of yesterday's route  . Click on the play button on the map to see a drone's eye view of my route, including wrong turns! I recommend you speed it up by clicking on the "X1" button a few times. Onto what I saw... Brean Down This peninsula was the most northerly point of my trip. My cycle route ended at the base of it. But the views I got from spending a strenuous hour there where worth the effort! Let's just say I suspect not many touring bikes get to the trig point at the end of the peninsula! I pushed my bike up a paved footpath that was almost as steep as these steps. That got me 50m above sea level. And another 40m of off-road elevation gain got me to the trig point and fabulous views. First, the view north - Cardiff is visible top left.   And the view south.
